Basement Spray Foam

Basement Spray Foam Insulation In Elmira, Ontario

Basement spray foam turns a cold foundation into a warm, dry wall that is ready for studs. Closed cell foam grips block, stone and poured concrete alike.

All foundation work we do is fully insured, and a written quote follows a visit that costs nothing.

Basement Spray Foam details

Cold Walls Make Basements Damp

Basement spray foam stops humid air from reaching cold concrete. In July, muggy air drifts down the stairs and meets a wall that is cooler than the room. Moisture collects on the wall, and a musty smell follows.

Fiberglass and poly pressed against that wall tend to trap the moisture, and mould grows where nobody can see it. Sprayed closed cell bonds to the concrete with no gap, so the sweating has nowhere to start.

Basement Spray Foam On Older Foundations

Basement spray foam fits the rough face of older block and stone. Many older homes in Elmira and St. Jacobs have walls that bow or step in and out. Rigid board is hard to fit tight against them, while foam fills every dip.

We study the wall first. Loose mortar, active leaks or crumbling block get dealt with before any foam goes on. We tell you what we find and plan around it.

The Rim Joist Gets Done On The Same Day

Basement spray foam should always carry up onto the rim joist. That band of lumber resting on top of the block is among the draftiest parts of any home. Winter air whistles in along the sill plate and through the holes drilled for plumbing and wiring.

We spray the rim on the same visit, so the basement is sealed from the slab to the subfloor.

Ready For Finishing

Basement spray foam gives a rec room a solid start. Once the foam cures, framing and drywall go up as usual. The drywall also serves as the cover that foam in a living space needs. For low spaces under additions, see our crawl space foam page.

Basement Spray Foam Thickness And Code

Basement spray foam is usually sprayed two to three inches thick on foundation walls. The 2024 Ontario Building Code asks for more basement wall insulation in new homes than it used to, and an older home being renovated gains a lot by aiming close to that level. Closed cell gets there while giving up less floor space than batts and board.

We talk through the thickness you want at the visit, and the depth for each wall goes on your quote. If the basement is being finished under a permit, we match the plans your building department approved.

Pole Barn Spray Foam

Pole barn spray foam insulation bonds to the roof steel and wall sheets of a post frame building, so frost and sweat have no cold face to form on. A single closed cell layer wraps the ribs and the girts.

Livestock Barn Spray Foam

Livestock barn spray foam insulation keeps the moisture from animals' breath off the roof and walls, so steel stays dry and rafters stay sound. Closed cell foam takes a pressure washer and gives pests no fluff to nest in.

Workshop Spray Foam

Workshop spray foam lets you heat a steel shop or old drive shed and actually keep the heat. Foam across the walls and roof stops drafts and keeps warm air from escaping through bare sheeting.

Closed Cell Spray Foam

Closed cell spray foam cures hard and dense, so one coat of it insulates, air seals and blocks water vapour together. We spray more of it on farm buildings, foundations and steel roofs than anything else.
